It’s been ages since I last posted here but I’ll show you in the next months what I’ve been up to lately, so you’ll know what have keep me that busy ;P
Anyway, what I want to talk (ehem write) about today was the awesomely cool time that I’ve spent last week at Ilustratour 2010 workshops, wonderful teacher, Rebecca Dautremer (yay! She is even better person than artist, and I didn’t thought that was possible), amazing pals (some of whom I knew at Svetlan Junakovic workshop back in 2008, although most of them were new) working at an inspiring place.
Ha pasado muchísimo tiempo desde la ultima vez que postee aquí, pero en los próximos meses os mostrare que he estado haciendo, para que veáis que me ha tenido tan ocupada ;P
De todos modos, de lo que quiero hablar (ejem escribir) hoy es sobre lo increíblemente bien que me lo pase, la semana pasada en los talleres Ilustratour 2010, una profesora maravillosa, Rebecca Dautremer (sip! Es aun mejor persona que artista, y mira que ya es difícil), unos compañeros geniales (a algunos les conocí en el taller de Svjetlan Junakovic, allá por el 2008, aunque a la mayoría he conocido esta semana) trabajando en un marco inspirador.
Rebecca’s assignment for this week was to paint a portrait and a scene from Alice in Wonderland’s tale. I didn’t manage to finish my illustration by the end of the workshop, also I think I got far away from the main assignment, but I promised myself I would finish it back home … the thing is that once here, I saw in the short trip from Valladolid to Palencia the drawing got scratched, so I decided not to finish it, I’ll redo it in the upcoming week instead. I think that’s great since I can work a bit more on the lettering and put to work Rebecca’s latest advice about this particular drawing.
Well, so that’s it so far, I had a blast at this workshop and I’m sure that’s mainly because of the great people I’ve share it with, I also think I was really lucky to “fall” in the really talkative people group with Roselino, Francisco, Blanca and Rafa, I hope to see you all at the next Ilustratour!
PS: Btw if you live close enough to Valladolid don’t hesitate to visit the Patio Herriano Museum to enjoy Rebecca’s exhibition, which you’ll be able to do until September 19 ;)
El ejercicio que Rebecca propuso para esta semana fue el de pintar un retrato y una escena de Alicia en el País de las Maravillas. Yo no conseguí acabar mi ilustración, aparte creo que me salí un poco de la propuesta inicial, pero me prometí a mi misma que a la vuelta a casa remataría mi dibujo… el tema es que una vez aquí vi, que en el pequeño trayecto Valladolid – Palencia el dibujo se había llevado mas de un golpe (parecen arañazos a presión), así que decidí que no lo acabaría si no que lo reharía en la próxima semana. Creo que es una buena opción porque me permite trabajar un poco mas el lettering y poner en practica los consejos que Rebecca me dio sobre esta ilustración en concreto.
Bueno, pues eso es todo de momento, me lo pase genial en este taller y estoy segura de que se debe principalmente a la gente tan genial con la que lo he compartido, también creo que tuve mucha suerte de “caer” (esta expresión esta mal en ingles fijo XD) en el grupo de los parlanchines (que no charlatanes) con Roselino, Francisco, Blanca y Rafa, ¡Espero veros en el próximo Ilustratour a todos!
PD: Por cierto, si vivís cerca de Valladolid no dudéis en visitar el Museo Patio Herreriano para disfrutar de la exposición de Rebecca, lo que podréis hacer hasta el 19 de Septiembre ;)
I did a single screen-print about 2 years ago, but last month I decided to check if I remember the process, which I did not XD, so I needed a little help at first but then I was able to do these two illustrations (air & earth) for my niece (air) and nephew’s (earth) bedrooms, they are not even a year old right now, but I hope they’ll like it when they grow up a little haha, I did only 12 of each one if anyone is interested in one let me know.
I really enjoy the process so expect new (and better) hand made screen-prints soon!!
Hice una única serigrafía como hace dos años, pero el mes pasado decidí comprobar si recordaba el proceso, que resultó que no XD, así que necesité un poco de ayuda al principio pero después pude hacer estas dos ilustraciones (aire & tierra) para las habitaciones de mi sobrina (aire) y mi sobrino (tierra), no tienen ni un año aún pero espero que cuando crezcan un poco les gusten jaja, tan solo hice 12 de cada una, si alguien esta interesado en una que me lo haga saber.
Me esta gustando esta técnica así que esperad nuevas (y mejores) serigrafías pronto!!
While I was living in Dublin there was this really nice Circus Festival (It was more like half-week than a week, but who cares?), so there were lots of street performances, aerial shows, workshops … even outdoor movies (freezing while watching Moulin Rouge in the street at 12 pm, priceless XD), so I did these two posters for myself, I guess I turn a little nostalgic from time to time.
I used watercolours, ink and Photoshop to mix it all.
P.S: I almost forgot, Happy 2010 to you all!
Cuando estuve viviendo en Dublín hubo un festival circense muy chulo (duró más o menos media semana en vez de una pero ¿qué mas da?), así que hubo montones de actuaciones por la calle, danza aérea, talleres …incluso películas en la calle (congelarte mientras ves Moulin Rouge en la calle a las 12 de la noche, no tiene precio XD), así que hice estos dos pósters para mi, supongo que me vuelvo un poco nostálgica de vez en cuando.
Usé acuarelas, tinta y Photoshop para mezclarlo todo.
P.D.: Casi se me olvida, Feliz 2010 a todos!!
This was my last work before finishing my internship, It was an illustration for a contest “Students win your rent free for a year”, I wasn’t told anything about how the contest was gonna be like (and I think the contest was cancelled before they send the posters to print), so I just play with the students/rent theme, and made a pop-up book showcasing a house, I like how the clouds end it up, with that “Have you got what it takes? / You got it” inside them.
Este fue mi último trabajo antes de acabar las prácticas, era una ilustración para un concurso “Estudiantes conseguid vuestro alquiler gratis por un año”, no se me dijo nada acerca de como iba a ser el concurso, así que me limité a jugar con el tema de estudiantes/alquiler e hice un libro pop-up del que salía una casa, me gusta como quedaron las nubes con ese “¿Tienes lo que hace falta? / Lo tienes” dentro de ellas.
This is my first serious branding work; I did from the main brand, to the stationary, some posters, newspaper ads and even a pattern for the nightclub main entrance wall. Here you can see the brand, a couple options for the business cards, letter headings, and a compliments slip.
Este es mi primer trabajo serio de creación de marca, hice desde la marca principal, a las aplicaciones de escritorio, algunos pósters, anuncios para periódicos e incluso un estampado para las paredes de la entrada principal del club. Aquí podéis ver la marca, y el diseño de la carta, un par de opciones para las tarjetas, y una tarjeta de agradecimiento.
This is a poster was meant to be display inside the restaurant/bar to indicate their “Quiz Night” sessions, I “played” a lot with the question mark background options, and finally decided to go for something simple so your attention focus on the question marks in blue and pink.
Este póster fue pensado para colocarle dentro del restaurante/bar para indicar cuando era noche de preguntas (tipo concurso), “Jugué” mucho con el tema de la interrogación en el fondo y al final me decidí por algo sencillo para que la atención se centrase en las interrogaciones azul y rosa.
I guess I should say something like “Finaaaaaally I’m back to the blog” since I’ve been kinda offline since I’ve came back from Ireland (miss you Dublin!! and I miss my Bandon family too ^^)
Anyway above you can see two posters (well, a half at least) “Come to Las Viva Las Vegas Night” and a July line up, a flyer for “John Lynch Carpets” and a Wall Elevation with different frames for display rates at a Butcher Shop. I didn’t have any favourite work to display on this week so I decided to show more than one.
Supongo que debería decir algo así como “Por Fiiiiiiiiiiiin he vuelto al blog” ya que he estado bastante offline desde que volví de Irlanda (¡¡Dublín te echo de menos!! y a mi familia de Bandon también ^^)
De todos modos arriba podéis ver dos pósters (bueno, la mitad al menos) “Ven a la noche de Viva Las Vegas” y Un calendario de actividades de Julio, una flyer para la empresa de alfombras “John Lynch” y un panel de pared con diferentes tipos de marcos para mostrar los precios en una carnicería. No tenia un trabajo favorito que mostrar esta semana así que decidí mostrar mas de uno a la vez.
Well as you may have noticed, I’m posting a lot of weeks almost at the same time, that’s because I was really busy working thought the weekdays and discovering Dublin thought the weekends, so now I’m in a hurry because I want to post all my favourite week’s work before finishing my Internship (and that’s this Friday XD)
Anyway above you can see a poster for the “Sligo’s got Talent” contest and the voting card too, I’m really improving my vector skills so now I’m beginning to be able to decide whether I do something simple or complex but not just because I have too, and that’s really interesting!
Bueno como habréis notado, estoy posteando un montón de semanas casi al mismo tiempo, esto es porque he estado muy ocupada trabajando entre semana y descubriendo Dublín los findes, asíque ahora estoy dándole caña porque quiero postear mis trabajos favoritos de cada semana antes de acabar las practicas (cosa que ocurre este viernes XD)
De todos modos ahí arriba podéis ver un póster para el concurso “Sligo´s got Talent” y una tarjeta para escribir el nombre del grupo al que votas, realmente estoy mejorando en el tema vectores asíque empiezo a poder decidir cuando quiero hacer algo sencillo y cuando mas complejo, ¡Y eso es muy interesante!
